About Dr. Leavens

Dr. Kate Leavens is a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist. She earned a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and a master’s in acupuncture with a Chinese herbal medicine specialization from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. Dr. Leavens completed a two-year residency under Dr. Ilana Gurevich with an emphasis in functional gastroenterology and later served as Course Director of Gastroenterology at the University of Western States. 
 
While her advanced training has focused heavily on functional and integrative gastroenterology, Dr. Leavens also functions as a primary care physician, supporting patients with a wide range of concerns including digestive health, endocrinology, women’s health, and preventive medicine. She feels most skilled in the thoughtful integration of naturopathic philosophy and Chinese medicine modalities with evidence informed practice.  By integrating a range of modalities including lifestyle optimization, nutrition, botanical medicine, pharmacology, and acupuncture, she aims to support the body’s innate ability to heal while helping patients feel empowered and understood throughout the process.
